A Visitor's Guide to New Jersey Ski Lodging

When you’re on the slopes of Mountain Creek or Campgaw Mountain slicing powder, you can forget that you’re less than an hour away from New York City. This is great in two ways. One, you’re having fun, and two, places to crash your tired head after a day on the slopes are almost endless.

Where to Sleep at The Creek

Mountain Creek is a full resort, which means that there is lodging onsite if you’re after the whole resort experience. Two separate options exist for this avenue. The first is The Appalachian, which is located right at the base of the mountain. This hotel has one and two bedroom suites with kitchens and fireplaces. Rooms here are from 170 to 200 per night. The second option for on-site lodging is Black Creek Sanctuary. The Sanctuary is a gated townhouse community. There are up to three-bedroom units available to rent, and cost up to $299 per night. The townhouses all have full kitchens, laundry on-site, and high-speed internet.

If you’re looking to rent somewhere off-site, there are numerous options. Every national chain hotel you can imagine is represented within thirty miles. For a unique option, there are also several bed and breakfast inns in the area. The Alpine Haus is a great option for a couple’s weekend, with prices ranging from $120 to $145 per night.

Staying Overnight near Campgaw

Campgaw Mountain Ski Area is located in-between I-287 and SR202, about five minutes south of Mahwah, New Jersey. Mahwah has a wide selection of chain hotels available, including a Sheraton, Hampton Inn, Best Western, Holiday Inn, and Homewood. Prices range from $120 to $200 per night.

Keep in mind that Campgaw is only a thirty minute drive from Mountain Creek, so all lodging options for the Creek are also open if you’re skiing Campgaw. Additionally, New York City is 34 miles east of Campgaw, so staying in the Big Apple is also an option. New York City lodging isn’t cheap by any means, but you can find lofts that people rent out as timeshares. This lets you ski and get a taste of the big city at the same time.
